What did I read this month? I finished reading two books – one by James Baldwin and another about the life of Lorraine Hansberry. I’m excited to share my review and thoughts on them in one of my upcoming post.

What writing projects did I work on in January?

I finished writing short story #7 last week and worked on my major writing project and research study throughout January.
What I wrote? Savannah’s Glory: Short Story #1 of 72 & When both shallow and deep.
If you have not already, please check out short story #1 of the year, Savannah’s Glory: Short Story #1 of 72 & When both shallow and deep.
So much of this month was focused on reading those who inspire me, adding to my larger projects and writing 6 new short stories. I look forward to sharing another short story next month either with my inbox squad or here on the blog.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to like, comment, inbox or text me feedback. I deeply appreciate all of you.
What I’m growing?
Oregeno

Wasabi Mustard greens

Romaine lettuce

Thai basil

Collard Greens

….& a surprise cucumber plant
Last week I shared on my social media that
“This weekend was busy. I did some writing, and we did some deep cleaning of the garden. I fully harvested all the older plants and these greens below. To my surprise, we found a cucumber plant we had forgotten to remove. We’ve got three tiny cucumbers growing on it now! In addition to that, we also planted a few seeds. It was a great weekend overall!”
I have learned that plants can flourish with our help, but they also demonstrate that less is more.
I forgot about this cucumber plant and was supposed to remove it weeks ago.

This surprise plant encouraged me to include cucumbers in the seeds I started this weekend. 💕
What did I harvest?
Cauliflower

Kale

What meals did I make using produce from the garden last week?
We used the entire cauliflower plant for quick taco toppings.

We made tons of kale salad/slaw with beans and rice.

January went by fast. My hope is to savor all that February has for me. How was your January?
