but…it turned out well.

One of my biggest regrets is throwing away most of my journals from college before moving to New York in 2010.

I discovered a few old journals and notes from around that time on my computer this week. It’s so interesting to read how confident, absolutely wrong, dream-filled, afraid, and courageous I was in my 20s. This motivated me to transform a few ideas from these journals and notes into an affirmation song. The song “You Are Well” is like a one-minute-long pep talk. It reminds you and anyone else who needs to hear it that you’re gonna be “well,” no matter what you’re going through right now or have gone through in the past.

I plan to share more of my writing in song form this year. My first drafts are never perfect vocally or production wise….but they are always a fun stepping stone to something I’ll use later. Please check the short song out below and read the lyrics on the screen. I am hyped to re-work this song and create a fuller beat to expand it for re-recording.

In the garden this last weekend, I harvested one 2-gallon bag of kale and a partially filled 2-gallon bag of baby collards from my garden.

I’m excited to freeze these greens and use them in spring dishes. Are you growing anything this season? Any new inspiring songs added to your playlist? Id love to know your answers in the comments.

On top of gardening and working with music….I’ve been working on perfecting my summer makeup routine for fun summer projects on film, via photos and during cafe hours. It’s been a bit of a challenge to find the perfect foundation between seasons. Since my current foundation doesn’t match my winter skin tone the best, I’m trying out some natural mineral makeup blends to get a more natural look until the sun makes my skin pop again. I’ve also been learning some new makeup techniques that are both fun and helpful, which is great because it helps me switch from my plant mom/garden lady mode to my creative girly side.

Speaking of being a garden lady…..one of my favorite meals I made using food from the garden last week was a kale salad with homemade sesame dressing and a roasted white sweet potato with miso and vegan butter.

(My friend Tiff put me onto this in grad school)

Facebook post typo no “you” from the “you and black sesame seeds” were consumed on my white sweet potato lol.

I hope you are all well and have a great start to your week. If you need some encouragement don’t forget to check out my 1 min affirmation song below. Also feel free to check out last week’s podcast and a full transcription of the podcast for those who enjoy reading.
