Dr. Kennedy 00:05

Okay, so I really don’t know what I’m doing right now, y ‘all. I was going to write out a blog post, but I just thought, why not put a podcast up and maybe start doing a recap every once in a while instead of writing it out.

Dr. Kennedy 00:23

We just got through the month of March. Did I do a March recap? I just did a February one, right, honey? So this is perfect. This is the Plus Size Vegan. I hope you guys are good. I hope you’re well.

Dr. Kennedy 00:37

I don’t yet have a format for this podcast. It will not be long. I just wanted to say what’s up and check in about what this month has been like. It’s spring. We have been getting a lot of rain here in the Bay, which is bringing in the good allergies! The good spiders! We have been doing prep to make sure the heat that’s going to be coming our way in the next few months, don’t impact the things that I’m growing indoors. You know, bugs, all that stuff. Just preparing to care for my garden in a more intentional way.

Dr. Kennedy 01:16

I love winter, spring, fall gardening because the bugs start to kind umm… They start going wherever they go. And I’m just really thankful, you guys, for more sun. I found myself a little bit during the start of March grieving the fact that the winter is going to be gone.

Dr. Kennedy 01:42

I go through these stages where fall and winter are my favorite seasons. I love the cuddliness of it. I love that it’s darker. I love that everyone’s more at home, the world feels less chaotic and loud.

Dr. Kennedy 01:57

But the thing that I don’t like about it is… you start to miss the sun a little bit! Right, and that happens for me. I get like about two weeks where I’m like “I’m over this”. It’s typically in January because that’s typically when it’s really cold and I think I  wrote a blog post that I’ll actually insert into this um this blog if you’re on my website right now. Where I talked about what that feeling of transitioning through season feels like in the body for me physically. I found myself there once spring hit. Where I was like wait a minute I’ve been dying and cold since January, but all that solitude and darkness that my scorpio self loves is now gone. So I had to be mindful to just ease into the transition from winter and spring because I found myself wanting some sun, but also grieving how quiet the world feels during the fall. I don’t know, I love the fall and the winter, but I’m ready for, not just spring, I’m ready for summer. Because we’ve been getting so much rain and it doesn’t….it’s like a fight.

Dr. Kennedy 03:09

Spring in the Bay Area, it always feels like this really interesting tug of war of, is it spring? Is it winter? Is it what? But outside, the world is letting us know that it’s spring. The birds are letting us know it’s spring.

Dr. Kennedy 03:25

The trees outside that we get a lot of fruit on are now getting small flowers. The roses are growing back in the garden and that feels good. I hope that you guys are good and that you’re taking care of yourself and that you’re finding something to grow.

Dr. Kennedy 03:45

I harvested a lot of greens this week and I was going to write a whole blog about these photos I took with my bundles of greens…but honey, I literally, remember this morning I literally took like an hour writing some stuff.

Dr. Kennedy 04:04

I try to write every day and at the end of it I was like, I’m not sharing it…and that happens a lot and sometimes you come back to stuff and you share it. But I took all these photos, just for myself, of all of the things that I grew. My favorite thing to do in the garden you guys is…I love daily harvesting because I love to see how things are growing and it’s quick to grab stuff, but I love when I wait and I harvest a bunch of stuff at once and it looks like….I be feeling like I’m a little farmer or something. But I did that and I took some cute photos and it was a photo of me and those collard greens that I started this winter.

Dr. Kennedy 04:47

And I was like, why these collard greens ate me all the way up in the photo like really they look so beautiful y ‘all there’s some tiny little greens that just been pushing through the winter. But I looked at the picture and thought good god I should have put some eyebrows on because these damn collard greens look so good and beautiful. The contour and the creases of just the veins….I don’t know I get really nerded out looking at things growing from seed to harvest. I kind of just felt like a really proud plant mama and so I guess that’s where we will lead to this question…um because I don’t want this to be long we’re already at five minutes. The question that I have is who do I feel is judging me and how does that limit me. I’ve answered this question a few times today and the more that I think about the answers I’ve shared, the reality is that I am judging me and that judgment limits me.

Dr. Kennedy 05:59

I’m judging how other people judge me and I judge myself based on that. I am judging even myself with the things I assume that people are judging me about. And that limiting..um that limits me in different ways or has limited me in different ways.

Dr. Kennedy 06:20

And I’m finding that the more I write, the more I continue to do my work. And when I say my work, that just means taking care of myself the best that I can. I realize any ways in which I limit myself limits my ability to give and share with other people and serve and do what I’m supposed to do with my purpose.

Dr. Kennedy 06:50

And that’s something I hope to be working on is the ways in which I judge myself and how that limits me. The ways in which it limits me from sharing fully what I want to or the times in which it’s forced me to share more than I even desired.

Dr. Kennedy 07:07

I think I’m in this really interesting stage right now where I’m figuring out and integrating different stages of my life to figure out who I am. And not in this like, “I don’t know who I am”…. but more so “what’s next for me.”

Dr. Kennedy 07:22

And my hope is to be less judgmental of myself, to be a little less judgmental of other people and continue to enjoy solitude, writing, and community more especially as the sun comes out. So yeah, let me know what y ‘all are growing.

Dr. Kennedy 07:42

What have y ‘all been hoping to grow? Also, who do you feel is judging you and how does that limit you? I would love to know your answer. You can write it in the comments on my website or you could also, there’s a link that’s going to be in this blog post, you guys, where it’s going to be a form where you can answer anonymously on like a Google form or something like that.

Dr. Kennedy 08:04

And so I’d love to know your answer. Who do you feel is judging you and how does it limit you? I hope that the rest of this weekend is good to you. I am going to spend the rest of my day writing, gardening, I’m going to take a bath, I’m going to do something to my skin, like a full exfoliating face mask type thing.

Dr. Kennedy 08:29

I’m going to hit the sauna. Just take care of myself before we get back into this routine outside of spring break. I’m going to be planting some new seeds tonight. It’s 3am right now, so I’m probably going to start this whole process soon, like getting the seeds and things like that in order.

Dr. Kennedy 08:52

But yeah, I’m thankful for spring break. Spring break has been really good. I feel like I got a lot of clarity on some things that I have been wanting clarity on and I feel a sense of relief. I feel a sense of less judgment towards myself and I really do love this question and I would love to hear y ‘all’s response to it. Because the last few months has really been me releasing anything that has limited me. I’ve learned it’s typically self -limiting beliefs that we can hold on to…and may we find the winter leaves are shed and spring leaves are now sprouting.

Dr. Kennedy 09:33

May we begin to sprout beliefs that are unlimited. May we shed all the limited beliefs and the ways we limit ourselves based on our own judgment and the judgment of others. I look forward to hearing y ‘all’s answers.

Dr. Kennedy 09:49

Peace.
